The Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has begun placing consumption time limit information on food containers distributed to student beneficiaries in the area.

SPPG Belitung Regional Coordinator Enggit Clara said in Tanjungpandan on Wednesday that the placement of consumption time limit information on food containers was undertaken to follow up on official instructions and directives from the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

“Currently, the implementation of placing consumption time limit information on MBG menus has been applied in eight schools that serve as the person in charge (PIC),” she said.

She said the policy will gradually be implemented in other schools as well.

Enggit explained that the consumption time limit information is affixed directly to the MBG ompreng (stacked metal food container).

The label, she continued, contains details of the minimum and maximum time limits within which the food is safe for students to consume.

“This preventive measure aims to ensure that food quality remains in good condition when consumed, prevent food from spoiling, and anticipate contamination by harmful microbes,” she said.

She strongly hopes that student beneficiaries will read and comply with the consumption time limit advisory.

Furthermore, Enggit also emphasised the importance of the active role of teachers at schools and parents at home, especially if certain conditions cause MBG food to be taken home by students.

“The role of teachers and parents is crucial for supervision. Because if the food has already been taken home, the quality and safety of consumption are beyond the responsibility of the SPPG,” said Enggit.
