Belitung Firefighters Successfully Extinguish One-Hectare Land Fire
A team from the Belitung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) successfully extinguished a land fire in Desa Dukong, Tanjungpandan District, on Saturday at 1.10 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The fire, which affected approximately one hectare of dry land, was reported at 12.05 p.m. and brought under control within an hour. “Alhamdulillah, the one-hectare land fire in Desa Dukong, Tanjungpandan, was successfully extinguished by Belitung BPBD firefighters,” said Belitung BPBD Chief Executive Zainal Harison in Tanjungpandan on Saturday. He noted that the swift response of the BPBD’s Firefighter Duty Team II prevented the flames from spreading to surrounding dry areas. “The situation is now green, the fire has been successfully extinguished, and the total area burned is approximately one hectare. The cause of the fire is not yet known,” he added. The incident occurred amid scorching hot weather and strong winds, although there is still potential for rain. The Belitung BPBD has urged the public not to burn land or forests, nor to burn rubbish without supervision. Residents are prohibited from clearing plantation land by burning, as there is a risk the fire could spread. “We invite the community to work together to prevent potential forest and land fires. If a fire occurs, please report it immediately to the fire station,” he said.
