The Class II TPI Belawan Immigration Office in North Sumatra has deported a Malaysian citizen with the initials MM after it was proven they entered Indonesian territory illegally without official documents and bypassed immigration checkpoints. “This step is in line with the spirit of Immigration for the People, which places national security and public service as top priorities,” said Head of the Class II TPI Belawan Immigration Office, Eko Yudis Parlin Rajagukguk, in Medan on Tuesday. Eko explained that the deportation of the Malaysian citizen is part of immigration law enforcement against foreigners who enter Indonesian territory illegally. The action is in accordance with the provisions of Article 113 and Article 119 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. The deportation process was carried out via a Medan–Kuala Lumpur flight from Kualanamu International Airport on Monday (15/6). In addition to being deported, the Malaysian citizen was also placed on a blacklist through the online blacklist system. “Thus, the person concerned cannot re-enter Indonesian territory for a period of time in accordance with the applicable regulations,” said Eko. This firm action is part of the Directorate General of Immigration’s commitment to safeguarding state sovereignty and ensuring all foreign nationals in Indonesia comply with the prevailing laws and regulations. Eko added that his office continues to strengthen supervision of foreigners and enforce immigration law in a professional, humane, and accountable manner.
