Belated mail

From Kompas

On Aug. 15 two express letters were delivered to my house. The
first one had a post office stamp dated Aug. 2, and came from
Yogyakarta for our son. This letter informed him that Aug. 16 was
the deadline for payment of his college fee for the first
semester study at Atma Jaya University in the city.

The second one which had a post office stamp dated Aug. 6,
came from our cousin in Jakarta. He invited us to attend a
religious ceremony in Cipanas.

The express mail from Yogyakarta took 13 days to reach us in
Lampung and the Jakarta letter took nine days. As far as I know,
there is no problem with the transportation links between my town
and the two cities.

Usually the express mail from Jakarta takes three days while
letters from Yogyakarta take only six days. What happened to the
two letters on the way to Lampung? I hope the Post Office will
give me an explanation.
