Belarusian President Lukashenko to Meet Prabowo at Merdeka Palace
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is set to meet President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace. This official state visit is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
Lukashenko arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. He was welcomed by the Minister of Defence, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, East Jakarta.
Sjafrie shared the moment via his Instagram account. “Representing the President of the Republic of Indonesia, I welcome the presence of the President of the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Alexander Lukashenko, at the Base Ops of Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026,” said Sjafrie.
Sjafrie noted that Lukashenko’s presence in Indonesia represents a significant momentum in strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations. “It also opens space for strengthening strategic cooperation based on mutual respect and mutual contribution to the progress of both nations,” he added.
In Sjafrie’s post, the son of President Lukashenko, Dmitry Lukashenko, was also seen participating in the welcoming ceremony. Dmitry had arrived in Jakarta earlier and held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman.
President Prabowo previously visited the Belarusian capital, Minsk, on 15 July 2025. During that trip, Prabowo also visited President Lukashenko’s residence in Ozyorny, located outside the capital of Minsk.
The meeting between the two leaders last year lasted nearly three hours. President Prabowo was the second head of state to visit President Lukashenko’s residence following its renovation, after Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“After this house was restored, you are the second guest after President Putin. Previously, even before the renovation, President Xi Jinping also visited here with his family,” Lukashenko remarked while welcoming President Prabowo.
The two leaders discussed various strategic issues, including opportunities for cooperation in the trade sector, commodities, and the supply of fertiliser. President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and invited President Lukashenko to visit Indonesia again.
“Thank you, Your Excellency. It is a great honour for me to be received in your home. I also hope that Your Excellency can visit Indonesia in the near future,” Prabowo said during the previous meeting.
