Belarusian President Arrives in Jakarta, Defence Minister Sjafrie Eyes Strategic Cooperation
Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin received Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on a state visit at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta on Wednesday. The visit aims to expand bilateral partnership between the two nations. Acting on behalf of the Indonesian President, Sjafrie welcomed Lukashenko at the steps of the Belarusian presidential aircraft with a warm handshake. “I represent the President of Indonesia in welcoming the President of the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Alexander Lukashenko. President Lukashenko’s presence is an important momentum in strengthening the friendship between Indonesia and Belarus,” Sjafrie stated. Upon arriving at the apron, President Lukashenko greeted senior ministry and military officials lined up for the reception. The two figures held a brief conversation while walking side by side towards the arrival ceremony area. Following the welcoming procession, Lukashenko, accompanied by Sjafrie, walked past the honour guard troops towards the VIP vehicle prepared by the state committee. Sjafrie rendered a military salute at the vehicle door before the Belarusian President departed the air base. Sjafrie emphasised that the bilateral relations between Jakarta and Minsk will focus on strengthening strategic cooperation based on mutual respect for sovereignty and tangible contributions to the development and security of both nations.
