Belarus seeks direct flight to boost Indonesia travel after visa deal

Ramanouski emphasized that air connectivity is a key area of cooperation that tourism sectors in both countries must leverage to boost two-way travel.

“We look forward to opening direct flights between Belarus and Indonesia. Of course, it will require some time and effort, but we will work on it,” Ramanouski told reporters at the Belarus Pavilion during the Food & Hospitality Indonesia (FHI) 2026 expo in Jakarta.

Indonesia began granting visa-free entry to Belarusian nationals on July 9 under a new regulation issued by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

Belarus, Turkiye, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, and the Macao Special Administrative Region were all added to the list of visa-exempt nations.

Belarus has allowed visa-free travel for Indonesian citizens since 2017.

Ramanouski noted that thousands of Belarusian tourists visit Indonesia each year, with Bali remaining their top destination.

According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), 10,455 Belarusian visitors arrived in the country in 2025.

“We expect that as people in Belarus learn more about Indonesia, more will be eager to visit,” Ramanouski said, adding that the visa exemption will strengthen both business-to-business and people-to-people ties.
