Belarus prioritises food security cooperation with Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is prioritising food security sector cooperation with Indonesia to help achieve technological independence and industrial diversification, ensuring reduced reliance on specific nations.
“I am very confident in the need for cooperation in the field of food security so that each country can be mutually independent in meeting the needs of its own people,” said Lukashenko during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Lukashenko explained that Belarus is fully committed and prepared to contribute to Indonesia in resolving food security issues.
As a concrete step, Belarus has stated its readiness to supply larger volumes of fertiliser commodities, agricultural machinery, and various agricultural techniques.
Beyond mere trade, Belarus is also offering technology transfers through training programmes for Indonesian workers directly within their leading manufacturing plants.
“We are ready not only to supply, but we are even ready to teach thousands of your people to work in our engineering fields; we are ready to teach your people,” said Lukashenko.
In addition to being willing to open joint ventures for the tyre, dairy, and meat industries, Lukashenko emphasised the importance of self-sufficiency for a large nation such as Indonesia.
Through this cooperation, Indonesia is expected to be able to maximise national production using its own technology to achieve economic sovereignty.
