Belarus hopes to soon open direct flight route to Indonesia

Belarusian Ambassador to Indonesia Raman Ramanouski hopes the two nations can open a direct flight route to facilitate mobility, particularly following the recent implementation of a visa-free policy. He stated that developing new flight routes between Indonesia and Belarus is a cooperation sector that tourism industry players in both countries need to optimise to encourage an increase in tourist visits. “We hope to open direct flights between Belarus and Indonesia. Of course, this will require a lot of time and great effort, but we will keep working on it,” Ramanouski said during the Food & Hospitality Indonesia (FHI) 2026 event in Jakarta on Tuesday. Indonesia began granting visa-free facilities to Belarusian citizens on 9 July. Meanwhile, Belarus has applied a visa-free policy for Indonesian citizens since 2017. The visa-free facility was ratified in the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Regulation Number 10 of 2026 concerning the Addition of the List of Countries, Governments of Special Administrative Regions of a Country, and Certain Entities Granted Visa-Free Visits. Through this regulation, the government added Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, the Macau Special Administrative Region (China), and Belarus as countries or regions whose citizens can enjoy visa-free facilities to visit Indonesia. Raman stated that this policy has brought the two countries closer together, including people-to-people and business-to-business interactions. He noted that thousands of tourists from Belarus visit Indonesia every year, especially Bali. “We hope that as more Belarusian people learn about Indonesia, they will become more interested in visiting,” he said. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the number of foreign tourist arrivals holding Belarusian passports throughout 2025 reached 10,455 visits.
