Bekasi Woman Steals Mother's Motorcycle Documents and Threatens to Sell Her Own Children
Police have revealed a case of threats and embezzlement committed by a woman with the initials MKJ against her own biological mother, LA, in the Medan Satria area of Bekasi City. The perpetrator stole the vehicle registration document (BPKB) for LA’s motorcycle and demanded a money transfer.
The case was disclosed during a press conference at the Bekasi Metro Police headquarters on Friday (19/6/2026). Bekasi City Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, Deputy Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Davis Busin Siswara, Criminal Investigation Unit Head Commissioner Andi Muhammad Iqbal, and Head of Public Relations First Inspector Suparyono led the press conference directly.
The incident occurred on 7 January 2025 when the victim, LA, saw her daughter, MKJ, rummaging through a cupboard. Without the victim’s knowledge, the perpetrator took the BPKB for the victim’s motorcycle and then excused herself, leaving with her two children under the pretext of buying food.
“The perpetrator then contacted her mother and demanded a sum of money be transferred. If her demand was not met, the perpetrator threatened to sell both of her children, who are also the victim’s grandchildren,” Senior Commissioner Kusumo stated.
The perpetrator MKJ sold the motorcycle together with another suspect, identified as AA, who is currently on the wanted list. Senior Commissioner Kusumo said AA also made off with a Satria FU motorcycle under the pretence of using it for work.
“The victim’s total loss is estimated at Rp 22.5 million for the two motorcycles,” he said.
The perpetrator MKJ was successfully apprehended on 28 June 2026 in the Lamongan area, East Java. At the time of her arrest, MKJ was with her two children, who are suspected of no longer attending school.
Based on preliminary examination, Senior Commissioner Kusumo stated that the perpetrator’s motive for her actions was purely economic. He said the perpetrator claimed she needed money for living expenses.
“She is known to have been married three times and has three children from her first husband and two children from her second husband. She fled to Lamongan with her third husband, whom she married in an unregistered religious ceremony,” said Senior Commissioner Kusumo.
“In Lamongan, the perpetrator also filed a domestic violence report, claiming she was hurt by her unregistered husband,” he added.
For her actions, MKJ is charged under Article 362 and Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning theft and embezzlement, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code and Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
