Bekasi Transport Officials Go Viral for Alleged Rp 1.7 Million Extortion of Truck Driver

A video depicting several officials from the Bekasi City Transport Agency (Dishub) in West Java, allegedly engaging in illegal levies (pungli) against a truck driver, has been circulating on social media. The officials are suspected of extorting Rp 1.7 million from the driver.

In the video, recorded on Saturday (1/8/2026), the person filming approaches several Transport Agency officials who were relaxing in an office. The person filming brings along the truck driver, who is alleged to be the victim of the extortion.

When asked which official was responsible for the extortion, the truck driver pointed to one of the officers present at the location. The video also shows a sum of cash, believed to be the proceeds from the illegal levy, being returned to the driver.

Via his Instagram account, the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, expressed his disappointment regarding the conduct of the Bekasi Transport Agency officials. He stated that he has already coordinated with the Bekasi City Government.

“I am very disappointed with the behaviour of these rogue Bekasi Transport Agency officials who are engaging in extortion against drivers. Last night, I coordinated with the Mayor of Bekasi because they are employees of the Bekasi City Government,” he said.

Dedi Mulyadi urged the Mayor of Bekasi to dismiss the officers involved. However, he could not yet confirm the specific employment status of the officials.

“Whether they are civil servants (ASN), contract workers (PPPK), or part-time workers, I have requested the Mayor of Bekasi to take firm action by dismissing them from their jobs dishonourably,” he added.
