Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sari Yuliati has expressed sorrow over the loss of life in the train accident where the Agro Bromo Anggrek collided with a KRL in East Bekasi. She has called on the government to investigate the causes of the collision.

“We convey our sorrow and deepest condolences to all victims and those affected by the train collision incident in East Bekasi,” said Sari to reporters on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Sari urged that a comprehensive investigation be conducted immediately to determine the exact cause of the accident. She highlighted factors such as human error and signalling system disruptions.

“This incident requires an immediate and thorough investigation to precisely identify the causal factors of the accident, whether there is human error, or issues with signalling or even operational management,” said Sari Yuliati.

Sari also requested that the government and relevant parties provide serious attention to the recovery of the victims.

“Of course, protection and recovery of physical and mental well-being for the victims must be prioritised, including restitution that must be paid by the operator as responsibility for the incident,” stated Sari.

14 People Dead

As reported, the death toll from the Argo Bromo Anggrek train accident with the KRL in East Bekasi has risen to 14 people. In addition, there are 84 injured victims.

“Update 08.45 WIB: 14 dead, 84 injured victims, handling process still ongoing,” said VP Corporate Communication of KAI Anne Purba in a written statement on Tuesday (28/4).

The accident was reported to have occurred at 20.50 WIB on Monday night (27/4). The train accident took place precisely at Bekasi Timur Train Station.
