Bekasi Toddler Murder: Uncle's Motive Uncovered After Gaming Disturbance
Police have uncovered the motive behind the murder of a two-year-old toddler identified as MAJ by his uncle SG (18) at a rental house in the Omah Seruni 99 area of Jatirangga Village, Jatisampurna District, Bekasi City, on Wednesday (27/5/2026) evening. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Bekasi City Police, Inspector Andi Muhammad Iqbal, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the incident began when SG was playing the online game Mobile Legends. “The suspect was playing the game when the toddler climbed onto his back, disturbing him during gameplay,” Iqbal said during an interview at the Bekasi City Police headquarters on Friday (29/5/2026). Additionally, the suspect claimed to have heard voices before committing the act. “In addition to being angry, the suspect admitted to hearing voices and expressed a desire to meet God quickly,” Iqbal said. SG, who has a mental health condition and regularly takes sedatives prescribed by a psychiatrist, immediately took a knife from the kitchen and attacked MAJ. “The suspect then stabbed the victim multiple times,” he said. A forensic examination at Kramat Jati Police Hospital revealed the victim sustained multiple stab wounds across various parts of the body. “There were 20 stab wounds on the face alone, and 12 on the body, totaling approximately 32 stab wounds across the victim’s body,” Iqbal said. “We have conducted a case review and formally named SG as the suspect,” Iqbal stated. According to him, SG confessed to the crime during questioning by investigators. The suspect also expressed remorse for his actions. “Although his statements varied at times, the suspect admitted to the crime,” Iqbal added.
