PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has announced that Bekasi Timur Station will temporarily not serve boarding and alighting activities for passengers. KAI’s VP of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that this is due to an operational incident that occurred in the Bekasi Timur Station area, within Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta. “We extend our apologies to all customers for the inconvenience caused. Our primary focus at the moment is handling the situation on-site and ensuring the safety and service for customers remain fulfilled,” said Anne in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026). For customers planning rail journeys, they can temporarily use services via Bekasi Station until further notice. Anne added that operations on the Bekasi line are still being adjusted in line with the on-site handling process. “KAI continues to coordinate with all relevant parties to accelerate the handling and restoration of services so that operations can return to normal as soon as possible. The latest information will be provided periodically through KAI’s official channels,” said Anne. Update on the number of victims KAI has also assured that all victims of the operational incident that occurred last night will receive maximum handling. Anne Purba stated that all medical treatment costs for injured victims and funeral expenses for those who passed away will be fully covered by insurance and KAI. She also provided the latest update on the number of fatalities. Now, six people have lost their lives in the incident. “In the incident, 240 passengers of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train were saved. Meanwhile, six KRL passengers were recorded as deceased and 80 people suffered injuries who are currently receiving medical treatment,” said Anne in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
