Bekasi, KOMPAS.com — The skateboard and BMX arena at the Gedung Creative Center in Bekasi City, located on Jalan Lapangan Serbaguna in Margahayu Village, East Bekasi District, is now poorly maintained and neglected. The sports facility was constructed during West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil’s term and officially opened in 2022. Currently managed by Bekasi City’s Tourism and Culture Department (Disparbud), sections of the concrete track are cracked, slippery, and covered in soil and dry leaves. The area previously used for skateboard tricks appears deserted with no visitors. Meanwhile, the BMX arena in the same area is even more concerning, with the track’s depression turning into a pond due to rainwater accumulation. Moss and dry leaves have accumulated in several corners of the venue. No staff or maintenance activities are visible around the site. Previously, the Bekasi Creative Center was touted as a creative space and sports facility for the city’s youth. In addition to the deteriorating tracks, boundary fences and surrounding areas appear faded. Paint on the concrete has faded and peeled due to lack of maintenance. Some passersby only observe the arena’s condition without using it for sports.
