Bekasi River Returns to Normal After Viral 'Black Oil' Pollution Scare

The flow of the Bekasi River, which previously turned black, is gradually returning to normal. Based on monitoring from 11:30 until this afternoon, the colour of the river water has returned to a natural brownish hue, with the flow appearing clearer than the previous day. Nevertheless, activities of residents along the riverbanks are still being conducted with caution. The water discharge is flowing normally, and no dark-coloured sediment is visible on the surface. Previously, a video showing the Bekasi River water turning jet black, resembling used oil, went viral on social media. Following up on the findings, the Bekasi City Government, through the Environmental Agency (DLH), took water samples to ascertain the water quality conditions and to trace the suspected pollution.
