Bekasi Residents Urge City Government to Repair Damaged Road in Front of Rp 1 Billion Gate at Dukuh Zamrud
Bekasi - Imam (28), a resident of Mustikajaya in Bekasi City, is urging the Bekasi City Government to immediately repair the damaged road in front of the main gate of Dukuh Zamrud Housing, Cimuning Ward, Mustika Jaya Subdistrict.
According to Imam, the government must intervene quickly before the road’s condition worsens and endangers road users.
“The road is no longer just an inconvenience; it can be dangerous. The government should act swiftly and not wait until there are casualties,” said Imam when met by Kompas.com at the location on Friday (8/5/2026).
“This is a really unique phenomenon. The gate was built for nearly Rp 1 billion, yet the road in front of it is damaged,” said Imam.
He stressed that the government should not wait for the community to undertake self-help actions to repair the road, which is the responsibility of the local authority.
According to him, the slow handling of the damaged road could prompt residents to repair it independently.
He also called for the government to prioritise the use of regional budgets for basic community needs, such as road repairs.
“Do not inflate budgets for facilities that are not directly felt by the wider community,” he said.
According to him, the development of basic infrastructure should be the government’s primary focus rather than aesthetic projects.
“Because if the road is good, the community will also feel comfortable,” said Imam.
“As residents, we want the road to be repaired too, to match that gate. Vehicles will be safer and there will be no accidents,” said Hendi.
According to him, the location of the damaged road is quite hazardous because it is on a bend and serves as the main access to several areas, such as Dukuh Zamrud, Cimuning, and Grand Wisata.
