BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – The budget for the Bekasi Regency Department of Water Resources, Highways, and Construction (SDABMBK) has decreased significantly in 2026. The budget, which was around IDR 800 billion in 2025, is now around IDR 460 billion.

The Head of the Bekasi Regency SDABMBK, Henri Lincoln, said that the funds that can actually be managed for road and bridge programs this year are only around IDR 313.86 billion.

“Of course, this decrease will have a direct impact on the local government’s ability to repair the extensive road damage,” said Henri when confirmed on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

According to him, the budget is not entirely allocated to physical work. He said that the funds also include technical planning, supervision, surveys, laboratory management, and the operation of the Rapid Response Unit (URC).

“Specifically for physical road work, it is only around IDR 178.16 billion,” he said.

The problem is getting more complex because road damage is not only caused by the age of the infrastructure, but also by the impact of floods in several areas.

The damage caused by these disasters has not been included in the initial planning of the 2026 Budget Implementation Document (DPA).

The local government has also submitted a proposal for emergency budget reallocation, which is currently awaiting approval from the Local Government Budget Team (TAPD) and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Based on SDABMBK data, the total length of roads in Bekasi Regency reached 1,077.39 kilometers in 2025. Of this amount, about 73.98 percent or 797.39 kilometers are in good condition.

However, about 26.02 percent or 280.31 kilometers are still in poor condition. Severe damage dominates with a length of 196.67 kilometers or 18.28 percent, while roads with minor damage are recorded at 83.34 kilometers or 7.73 percent.

“Road damage has increased this year, and the stability of roads in Bekasi Regency has decreased after the flood,” he said.

In the future, the government is targeting a phased repair and reconstruction program to maintain regional connectivity, smooth community mobility, and support regional economic growth.

This step is taken to ensure infrastructure readiness in preparation for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 AD homecoming flow, especially on major routes that are crowded with homecoming vehicles.

“We have rescheduled the project so that it can be carried out soon. God willing, before Eid, we will ensure that the roads in Bekasi Regency have all been repaired,” said the Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, when met in North Cikarang, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).

Asep emphasized that the repair priority is focused on strategic routes that are the main access for homecoming travelers to ensure safety, smoothness, and comfort during Eid.
