Bekasi Regency Repairs CBL Bridge to Enhance Driver Comfort
The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, is repairing the infrastructure of the Cikarang Bekasi Laut (CBL) Bridge as an effort to improve driver comfort following damage to the access structures and guardrails, which had caused concern among residents.
The 21-metre-long and 7-metre-wide bridge, located in front of the Bendung Sungai Hilir (BSH) area at kilometre zero, is vital for supporting local mobility as it serves as the primary access connecting Kalijaya Village in Cikarang Barat District with Sukajaya Village in Cibitung District.
“In addition to repairing the bridge, this work also includes repairing the approach road or bridge ramp using ‘fast track’ concreting technology,” said Amin, Head of the Bridge Construction Team at the Bekasi Regency Department of Water Resources, Highways, and Construction, in Ciliwung on Thursday.
He stated that the use of this technology allows the concrete to dry more quickly, enabling the road to be reopened to vehicles without waiting for the conventional 28-day drying process.
“If standard concreting requires 28 days or four weeks, it can now be shortened to one week, or even as quickly as three days before it can be used,” he said.
He noted that the road repair and re-concreting of the ramp have been successfully completed, allowing the focus to shift to the installation of new railings or safety barriers that meet safety standards.
Following this, work will proceed with asphalt laying, gutter construction, and painting. All stages are targeted for completion within the next two weeks.
“The work is being accelerated from the agreed contract period due to requests from residents. Our target is to have everything finished by mid-November 2026. The budget is sourced from the Bekasi Regency Regional Budget (APBD) amounting to Rp484.3 million,” he added.
Eka Saputra (45), a resident of the Puri Lestari Housing Estate in Sukajaya Village, expressed gratitude for the repairs, noting that the previous condition was a significant safety hazard for road users.
“Alhamdulillah, the CBL Bridge can be repaired this year. Previously, it was very worrying as some of the ironwork had disappeared or was corroded. We were afraid it would endanger those passing through,” he said.
According to him, the bridge improvements will have a direct impact on the daily activities of residents in the surrounding residential areas, including those in the Grama Puri and Puri Lestari housing estates.
“I am thankful that the local government has responded to the long-standing hopes of the community. With these bridge repairs, mobility will become smoother and will support connectivity between villages and even districts,” he concluded.
