Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) — The Bekasi Regency government in West Java is prioritising road infrastructure repairs, particularly along Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 homecoming routes, to ensure the safety, smooth flow and comfort of travellers during the upcoming mudik (homecoming) and return period.

Acting Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja affirmed that road repairs are the top priority at the start of this year, implemented through a budget reallocation scheme and the acceleration of physical construction project schedules from the originally planned second semester to the first semester.

“We have shifted the project schedule so that work can be carried out in the near future. God willing, before Lebaran we will ensure all roads in Bekasi Regency have been repaired,” he said in Cikarang on Monday.

He stated that road repairs are also being pursued through a budget assistance scheme from the West Java Provincial Government, particularly for provincial-status road sections such as Jalan KH Raden Ma’mun Nawawi.

Meanwhile, Bekasi Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit Chief Commissioner Sugihartono assessed that road conditions in the Bekasi Regency area are currently far from ideal. Large potholes and crumbling concrete are frequently encountered even along homecoming travel routes and the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

“Ideally, conditions should be improving, because after every event we evaluate the state of the roads. The reality is rather concerning,” he said.

He acknowledged having requested the relevant authorities to carry out road repairs promptly so that they can be completed by the time the homecoming season begins, coinciding with the implementation of Operasi Ketupat 2026.
