Bekasi Regency Government Provides On-Site NIB Issuance for Cikarang Market Traders
The Bekasi Regency Government is providing on-site services to facilitate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in obtaining legal business status through the issuance of a Business Identification Number (NIB). This facility is specifically provided for traders at Cikarang Market.
Sarwoko, Head of the Social Economic Licensing Issuance Team at the Bekasi Regency Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP), stated that this proactive approach is a government effort to make it easier for the public, particularly MSMEs, to obtain business legality. Dozens of MSMEs around the Cikarang Market complex enthusiastically took advantage of the programme, queuing to obtain the NIB free of charge to ensure their business continuity under a legal umbrella.
Sarwoko explained that the NIB is crucial for MSMEs. Beyond serving as proof of legality, the number functions as a government database for distributing various assistance programmes to small business operators. The NIB offers various conveniences, including being a primary requirement for accessing People’s Business Credit (KUR) from banks. Furthermore, the NIB has now integrated and replaced old licensing documents such as the Trade Business Licence (SIUP) and Company Registration Certificate (TDP), as well as the Business Domicile Certificate.
He stressed that the obligation to have an NIB applies to anyone conducting business activities and seeking profit, including micro-scale enterprises. Consequently, DPMPTSP is actively visiting markets and village offices. The on-site service not only assists with registration but also provides technical guidance. Officers help residents who have difficulty determining the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI), have forgotten their NIB accounts, or need to update their business data. To speed up the process, officers provide supporting devices such as printers so that NIB documents can be printed immediately on location. Through this initiative, the Bekasi Regency Government hopes that more business operators will become aware of the importance of legality and encourages the public to utilise this free assistance service to help their businesses grow and advance.
