Schools are important spaces where children can grow and develop. A good school environment therefore requires discipline, care and commitment from the entire school community.

BEKASI, West Java (ANTARA) — The Bekasi Regency Government has praised a school revitalisation programme aimed at creating a higher-quality learning environment, despite the region’s limited fiscal capacity.

“Thank you, Mr President, for the school revitalisation assistance, which is increasingly helping to create a safe, comfortable and high-quality learning environment for students,” Acting Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja said on Saturday while attending an open house at SDN Bojongsari 04, which has undergone revitalisation.

He urged the school community to protect and maintain the facilities built through the programme so they could be used for the long term and support teaching and learning.

Asep said that developing educational facilities was an important part of creating a school environment that supported learning. Responsibility for the completed construction, he added, rested not only with the government but also with the entire school community.

Asep said 35 public primary schools received government revitalisation assistance, worth a total of Rp20.82 billion, in 2025. This year, 21 schools are receiving similar assistance; nine of them have signed cooperation agreements, with a budget allocation of Rp9.5 billion.

At junior secondary level, 18 schools received revitalisation assistance with a budget of Rp16.24 billion in 2025. This year, 20 schools are receiving assistance worth Rp18.27 billion.

“As Acting Regent, together with the people of Bekasi Regency and the education authorities, I would like to thank the President of the Republic of Indonesia for paying attention to education in Bekasi Regency,” he said.

Asep hoped the revitalisation work would go beyond physical construction and also improve the quality of learning and students’ enthusiasm for their studies.

He said schools were important spaces for children to grow and develop, and that a good school environment needed to be supported by discipline, care and commitment from the entire school community.

Bekasi Regency Education Agency head Imam Faturochman said adequate facilities and infrastructure helped foster a safe and comfortable school culture. The remaining requirement, he said, was for everyone at the school to commit to looking after them.

“All members of the school community should maintain these revitalised facilities so they can be used optimally to support the learning process. Teachers and students are asked to take good care of the buildings,” he said.

Acting head of SDN Bojongsari 04 Amih Suarsih welcomed the Acting Regent’s attendance at the open house, saying the visit gave the school an opportunity to discuss and put forward needs related to improving education quality, including facilities and infrastructure.

“Three new classrooms have been built by the central government for this open house. With the Regent here, we were able to raise some additional needs, such as a sports field and an arts stage. We hope the requests we put forward today can be fulfilled next year,” she said.
