Bekasi Regency Government Accepts BPK Disclaimer Opinion as Momentum for Total Correction
The Bekasi Regency Government has officially responded to the Supreme Audit Agency’s (BPK) audit report, which issued a Disclaimer opinion on its Local Government Financial Report (LKPD). The regency administration stated it accepts the result as a momentum for total correction towards clean governance.
Auditors indicated that the disclaimer opinion is a direct consequence of an ongoing legal case concerning project brokering currently being heard at the Corruption Court in Bandung. Beyond the legal factors, the BPK also noted several areas requiring immediate improvement by the regional government.
“We respect the BPK’s decision. This opinion is a consequence of the legal situation we are currently facing,” said Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, in an official statement on Tuesday (30/6).
As a rapid mitigation measure and a form of public accountability, the Acting Regent has outlined three strategic steps. Firstly, the Bekasi Regency Government is committed to cooperating fully with the legal process by supporting the resolution of the case at the Bandung Corruption Court and ensuring transparency of information for law enforcement officials.
Secondly, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted on the procurement of goods and services across all packages in the Regional Budget (APBD) and the Revised Regional Budget. This step aims to sever the chain of transactional practices or project brokering systems that undermine procurement integrity.
Thirdly, the administration will coordinate and engage in intensive assistance with the BPK Representative Office of West Java. This collaboration will focus on formulating an action plan to improve financial governance and restore the validity of regional asset recording, which was highlighted by the auditors.
The Acting Regent emphasised that bureaucratic reform is the current priority to restore public trust. He assured that public services and community development in Bekasi Regency will continue to operate optimally, guided by the principle of integrity. “The Bekasi Regency Government is committed to ensuring that the progress of this financial governance system improvement can be known to the public in order to maintain information transparency,” he concluded.
