Bekasi Regency Government Accelerates Subsidised Flat Permits to Support 3 Million Homes Programme
The Bekasi Regency government, West Java, is accelerating the licensing process for subsidised apartment complexes (rusun) in the South Cikarang district as a form of support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programme regarding the fulfilment of 3 million housing units.
The Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, stated that the local government is committed to supporting the national strategic policy being implemented by the central government through the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas. This is achieved by accelerating the licensing process so that physical construction can be realised immediately.
“The programme to address the housing backlog through subsidised flats is one of the solutions for the community to obtain comfortable and strategic housing. Since the beneficiaries are residents of Bekasi Regency, we must certainly support it,” he said in Cikarang on Friday.
He noted that the licensing stages for the intended subsidised apartment construction are currently being processed by the Department of Works and Spatial Planning. Once all requirements are met, the permits will be issued promptly.
“The licensing process is already within the Department of Works and Spatial Planning, and all requirements have been 100 per cent fulfilled. We will issue the permit letters as soon as possible so that construction can proceed more quickly,” he said.
The Head of the Bekasi Regency Department of Works and Spatial Planning, Benny Sugiarto Prawiro, added that accelerating the licensing process is part of their commitment to improving public services.
“Because public service is one of our priorities alongside development itself. Therefore, regarding the licensing process, from our recommendations, we ensure that everything is in progress. For the central programme, following the leadership’s direction, this is a form of support from the local government,” he said.
He explained that, in line with central government policy, the subsidised apartment construction programme is part of the effort to accelerate the provision of decent and affordable housing, particularly for low-income communities.
“These flats serve as an innovation for affordable vertical housing, especially in the Jakarta buffer zone, while simultaneously acting as a solution to the housing backlog and land scarcity in urban areas,” he said.
The subsidised apartment project is projected to provide at least 141,000 housing units across three prepared land locations, with each location spanning approximately 10 hectares.
The subsidised apartment construction programme is funded by Danantara, while the land is obtained through grants from industrial estate developers in the local area. The investment value for the construction of these apartments is estimated to reach IDR 39 trillion.
