The Bekasi Regency Government in West Java is accelerating the licensing process for subsidised flats in the South Cikarang District as a form of support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programme concerning the provision of three million housing units. Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja stated that the local government is committed to supporting the strategic national policy being implemented by the central government through the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas by accelerating the permit process so that physical construction can be realised soon. “The programme to address the housing backlog through these subsidised flats is one solution for the community to obtain comfortable and strategic housing. The beneficiaries are also residents of Bekasi Regency, so we certainly must support it,” he said in Cikarang on Friday. He said the permit stages for the construction of the subsidised flats are currently being processed at the Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning Agency. Once all requirements are met, the permit will be issued immediately. “The licensing process has entered the Cipta Karya Agency and all requirements have been 100 per cent fulfilled. We will issue the permit letter as soon as possible so that construction can proceed more quickly,” he said. Head of the Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning Agency of Bekasi Regency, Benny Sugiarto Prawiro, added that accelerating the licensing process is part of the agency’s commitment to improving public services. “Because public service is one of the priorities besides the development itself. So we ensure that the entire licensing process, from our recommendations, is underway. For central government programmes, in accordance with the leadership’s direction, this is part of the local government’s support,” he said. He explained that in line with central government policy, the subsidised flat construction programme is part of efforts to accelerate the provision of decent and affordable housing, especially for low-income communities. “These flats represent an innovation in affordable vertical housing, particularly in the buffer zones of Jakarta, as well as a solution to the housing backlog and land limitations in urban areas,” he said. The subsidised flat project is projected to provide at least 141,000 housing units across three prepared land sites, each covering approximately 10 hectares. The subsidised flat construction programme is financed by Danantara, while the land was obtained through grants from industrial estate developers in the area. The investment value for the construction of these flats is estimated to reach IDR 39 trillion.
