Prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bekasi Regency are scheduled to depart for Mecca on Saturday (2/5/2026) at 15:00 Saudi Arabia time.

Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The Bekasi Regency Government in West Java has ensured full support for Hajj pilgrims originating from the area, from the departure process to their return to the homeland.

This was stated by the Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Endin Samsudin, during the send-off of 440 prospective Hajj pilgrims grouped in Departure Group (Kloter) 14 at the Swatantra Wibawa Mukti building, in the Bekasi Regency office complex, on Friday (1/5/2026).

He emphasised that the local government does not only play a role in the send-off ceremony but also ensures that all pilgrims receive attention and supervision while performing worship in the holy land until they return to Bekasi Regency in good health.

“We are not just sending them off, but also ensuring that support continues. From local Hajj officers, group leaders, to squad leaders, they are asked to provide maximum attention to all pilgrims,” he said.

“In addition to relying on officers, pilgrims are also urged to look after and remind each other, given the conditions in the holy land that bring together millions of Muslims from various countries,” he added.

The Bekasi Regency Local Hajj Companion, Mochamad Arif Ichwani, said that the pilgrims from the early group in the area are currently following the entire series of optional worship and visits before departing for Mecca to begin the main Hajj rituals.

“All our prospective Hajj pilgrims are in safe and controlled conditions, both in terms of health and worship comfort, with full support from the officers,” he said when contacted from Cikarang.

According to him, the atmosphere in Medina City is still relatively quiet, as the Bekasi Regency pilgrims are among the early departing groups, allowing them to perform worship more comfortably, including during visits and prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.

However, there are significant challenges faced by the accompanying officers related to weather and pilgrim mobility, especially when assisting elderly prospective Hajj pilgrims and those with high health risks.

“Significant temperature changes are the main concern while in the holy land. The weather in Medina is actually still cold, but it’s starting to turn hot, plus strong winds,” he said.

In addition to health issues, another challenge now attracting attention is assisting with the creation of the Nusuk application for pilgrims. This application is an important requirement for accessing several worship services, including entry to the Raudhah in the Prophet’s Mosque.

“Prospective Hajj pilgrims certainly receive the Nusuk Lil Hajj card for Hajj, but there is a new policy for entering the Raudhah that requires using Nusuk Lil Raudhoh. This is a major challenge, especially for elderly pilgrims and those who are still not tech-savvy,” he said.

He explained that the Nusuk service is used for three main purposes: access to Raudhah, Umrah, and performing Hajj. The limitation of Tasreh quotas provided by the Prophet’s Mosque management to the Indonesian Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) is also an obstacle because the number is not comparable to the total number of pilgrims.

“For example, the Bekasi Regency pilgrims from Kloter 03 KJT only received 30, then added 36, then 15 more. That’s very insufficient compared to the 445 people including officers. Therefore, support for pilgrims is very important,” he said.
