Bekasi Police Harvest Maize to Support National Food Security

The Bekasi Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Bekasi) have carried out a sustainable maize harvest for the first quarter of 2026 on land managed by the Metro Jaya Regional Police, as a strategic move to support the national food security programme. “The harvest is being conducted in stages, and for this second stage, around four hectares are ready for harvest out of a total land area of 50 hectares,” said Acting Bekasi Police Chief Commissioner Ikhlas Putro Wasono in Cikarang on Wednesday. The harvest event involved at least 55 participants, including elements from the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), local government, private companies, agricultural extension workers, farming groups, and community leaders, as a form of synergy in developing productive agricultural land. The Police Chief expressed his appreciation to all parties who have supported the programme from planting to harvest, and expressed hope that the well-established collaboration can be further enhanced. “We hope this collaboration will continue to be strengthened so that the utilisation of productive land can provide benefits for improving community welfare while realising sustainable food security,” he said. Cikarang Pusat Police Chief AKP Elia Umbong stated that his team will continue to support the food security programme through security, assistance, and coordination with the government and the community, so that productive land in the Central Cikarang area can be utilised optimally. “This harvest is tangible proof of the National Police’s commitment to supporting the National Food Security Programme,” he said. According to him, this food security programme is a form of shared concern in maintaining food availability while providing real benefits to the surrounding community. “Cikarang Pusat Police are ready to synergise with all parties so that this programme runs sustainably and provides real benefits to local farmers and the surrounding community,” he said.
