Bekasi Police Harvest Maize to Support National Food Security
Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The Metro Bekasi Resort Police (Polres) held a sustainable mass harvest of maize for the first quarter of the 2026 planting season on land managed by Polda Metro Jaya, as a strategic step to support the national food security programme.
“The harvest is being carried out in stages, and for the second stage this year around four hectares are ready for harvest out of a total of 50 hectares of land,” said the Acting Head of Metro Bekasi Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ikhlas Putro Wasono, in Cikarang on Wednesday.
The mass harvest was attended by at least 55 participants from the police, the military, local government, companies, agricultural extension officers, farmer groups and community figures, as a form of joint synergy in developing productive farmland.
The police chief commended all parties who have supported the programme from the planting process through to harvest, and expressed hope that the collaboration already established would continue to be strengthened.
“We hope this collaboration will continue to be reinforced so that the use of productive land can bring benefits to improving community welfare while achieving sustainable food security,” he said.
The Chief of the Cikarang Pusat Police Sector, AKP Elia Umboh, said his side would continue to support the food security programme through security, mentoring and coordination with government and the community, so that productive land in the Cikarang Pusat area can be used optimally.
“This mass harvest is tangible proof of the police’s commitment to supporting the National Food Security Programme,” he said.
According to him, the food security programme is a form of shared concern in maintaining food availability while providing real benefits to the surrounding community.
“The Cikarang Pusat Police Sector is ready to synergise with all parties so that this programme runs sustainably and provides real benefits for local farmers and the surrounding community,” he said.
