Bekasi Police Chief Denies Involvement in Free Nutritious Meal Programme Corruption
Metro Bekasi Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, has denied allegations of her involvement in a suspected corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which is currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office. She stated she knew the suspect, Sony Sonjaya, in connection with the establishment of a Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cirebon.
“I firmly state that I have no involvement whatsoever in the alleged irregularities of the MBG programme or activities within the National Nutrition Agency,” she said in Cikarang on Thursday.
Sumarni’s name had previously appeared in a viral social media post containing a list of parties allegedly involved in the case. The list included the names of several politicians, officials, and law enforcement officers.
Sumarni admitted she had only communicated with former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Sony Sonjaya, regarding a request to establish an SPPG within the Buntet Islamic Boarding School complex in Cirebon. “I was once asked by the person concerned to help establish an SPPG in the boarding school area in Cirebon. That was all, nothing else,” she said.
