Bekasi Mayor Urges Commuters Not to Delay Return, Anticipating Congestion During Reverse Flow
Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto has urged residents, especially those using private vehicles, not to delay their return to Bekasi to avoid a build-up of traffic during the 2026 Eid reverse flow. “Use your time wisely so it does not accumulate in the final days. If necessary, prepare yourself from the start,” said Tri to journalists on Monday (23/3/2026). Tri stated that the Bekasi City Government has prepared several anticipatory measures to handle the surge in vehicles during the reverse flow. These efforts include implementing traffic engineering on several arterial roads. “We have prepared several road sections. Both Plan A, up to Plans 1, 2, and 3. Which ones will be closed, directed, or given priority to deliver the commuters back to their respective homes,” Tri explained. He added that the local government will remain vigilant throughout the Eid period to ensure smooth traffic flow, both during the outbound and reverse journeys. In addition, Tri reminded the public using public transport to ensure ticket availability and the condition of the vehicles used. “Ensure tickets are available and the vehicles are in good condition,” he said. Tri stressed the importance of safety factors in travel. He noted that traffic accidents are generally triggered by driver factors and vehicle conditions. Therefore, he urged the public to ensure their physical condition remains optimal and their vehicles are roadworthy before travelling. “So, I think be very careful regarding the vehicles used and also ensure they are in good health, including the vehicles,” said Tri.
