Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Stresses Child-Friendly Schools Free from Bullying

Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono has officially opened the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) for the 2026/2027 academic year. In his directive, he stressed the importance of creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable educational ecosystem for all new students in the Bekasi City area. “MPLS must be a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable space for all students,” Tri Adhianto said in a statement on Tuesday (14/7). According to him, this phase is not merely an administrative routine, but a crucial foundation for students to adapt to a positive learning culture. One of the main points emphasised by the Bekasi City Government is the elimination of all forms of violent practices within the school environment. Tri Adhianto reminded educators and MPLS committees to ensure there is no bullying or actions that harm students physically or psychologically. He expressed hope that schools can transform into a ‘second home’ for children. With an environment full of care and mutual respect, students are expected to develop and achieve without fear. Recognising that the first day of school is an important emotional moment, the Bekasi City Government is providing full support for parents to accompany their children. This policy applies not only to the general public but also to State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Bekasi City Government. Tri explained that the presence of parents on the first day of school provides a sense of security and increases children’s self-confidence when entering a new environment. “The presence of parents will give them enthusiasm and confidence to start their educational journey,” he added. The implementation of MPLS in Bekasi City lasts for five days, from Monday (13/7) to Friday (17/7). To ensure the smooth running of activities, regional leadership ranks conducted direct inspections at a number of schools. At SMPN 12 Bekasi City, the opening was symbolically marked by the striking of a gong and the placing of name tags on representatives of new students by the Mayor. This procession was enthusiastically welcomed by the students, teachers, and parents who were present to accompany them. Through MPLS, the Bekasi City Government hopes to instil the values of discipline, mutual respect, and a passion for learning from an early age. This activity is seen as a strategic first step to produce a young generation with character who are ready to face future challenges. With synergy between schools, parents, and the government, Bekasi City is optimistic that the 2026/2027 academic year will yield many achievements from a healthy and supportive educational environment.
