The Bekasi City Government (Pemkot Bekasi) is continuing to improve trading areas that have been a public concern for years. Following the ongoing reorganisation of the Pondok Gede Market area, Pemkot Bekasi is now extending similar measures to the Pasar Baru and Jalan Juanda areas.

Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto asserted that reorganising market areas requires a lengthy process, including data collection and dialogue with traders, provision of business locations, coordination with various parties, and preparation of supporting infrastructure so that the changes can be sustainable.

He assessed that several areas long associated with traffic congestion, dysfunctional pavements, blocked drains, and chaotic trading activities indeed require serious government attention.

“We do not want to carry out only temporary enforcement. What we are doing is a comprehensive reorganisation so that problems that have persisted for years can be resolved gradually and sustainably,” said Tri Adhianto.

He explained that Pemkot Bekasi is currently focused on resolving various basic urban issues that have long been a source of public complaint. The reorganisation of Pondok Gede Market and Pasar Baru is part of an effort to restore the function of public spaces while creating more orderly and comfortable trading areas.

In addition to reorganising trading activities, the government is also improving supporting infrastructure such as drainage, street lighting, pavements, and area accessibility so that the benefits of the reorganisation can be directly felt by the community.

Tri stressed that change may not always be visible in a short time. However, the various steps currently being taken are part of the government’s commitment to resolving long-standing issues that have not been comprehensively addressed.

“Problems that have existed for decades certainly cannot be solved in a matter of days. But the most important thing is that today we start solving them one by one. The government is present, working, and ensuring that the changes truly benefit the community,” he said.

Pemkot Bekasi confirmed that efforts to reorganise strategic areas will continue to be carried out in stages according to needs and readiness on the ground. With these steps, it is hoped that more areas will become more orderly, comfortable, and capable of driving the community’s economic growth.
