The Bekasi City Government has agreed on a series of acceleration measures for the pre-construction phase of the Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) project following technical discussions with Wangneng Environment in Huzhou, China, on Monday (29/6). Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono stated that the acceleration steps were based on the results of technical discussions with Wangneng Environment, the appointed Project Implementation Business Entity (BUPP) for the PSEL development in Bekasi City. “The meeting served as a forum to identify various needs and challenges before construction begins,” the Mayor said in a statement on Tuesday (30/6). Tri Adhianto explained that Wangneng had conveyed a number of aspects requiring local government support, ranging from land readiness, access to the project site, supporting utilities, permit acceleration, to cross-agency coordination so that development proceeds on schedule. He emphasised that all input would be immediately followed up through cross-regional apparatus coordination with the support of the Bekasi City DPRD in accordance with its budgeting, legislative, and oversight functions. “We want all potential obstacles to be resolved before construction begins. That way, when entering the construction phase, all parties will have certainty regarding their respective duties and responsibilities,” Tri said. The Mayor added that the PSEL development is a strategic project requiring collaboration from all stakeholders. The local government will focus on completing technical and administrative aspects, while the DPRD will oversee policy support, budgeting, and oversight functions to ensure the development process meets its targets. “We share the same goal, which is to ensure this project runs on time and provides maximum benefit to the people of Bekasi City. Therefore, the government and DPRD continue to move in harmony,” he said. Tri has also instructed all regional apparatus to work simultaneously to complete tasks under the local government’s authority, including finishing the access road to the project site, preparing supporting utilities, and accelerating the permitting process. “Everything must proceed concurrently with clear targets, and we will evaluate periodically until all preparations are complete,” he said. He stressed that the certainty provided by the local government is a crucial factor in maintaining investor confidence in the strategic project. “Our task is to ensure all local government authority can be completed on time so that the development process does not experience delays,” he said. Tri assessed that communication established from the preparation stage is important capital for accelerating development, as the sooner challenges are mapped and resolved, the greater the chance the project can proceed on target. “We hope the results of these discussions will serve as a strong foundation ahead of the start of PSEL construction. The synergy between the local government, DPRD, implementing partners, and the community is expected to provide a long-term solution for waste management while encouraging green economic growth in Bekasi City,” he concluded.
