JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A manufacturing company producing printing machines in Cikarang, Bekasi, has been reported to the Metro Jaya Police for alleged violations of the right to organise (union busting) on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

“This is an alleged union busting by the management against employees and union officials,” said the workers’ legal representative, Budhy Merdiansyah, when met at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

“During the wage negotiations in February, up to 23 February, we reached an agreement. That means the wage negotiation issue has been resolved,” said Abdul on the same occasion.

However, suddenly, 12 workers who are members of the Indonesian Metal Workers Federation (FSPMI) were suspended on 6 April 2026, followed by termination letters a week later.

Abdul said they were suspended on grounds of efficiency. However, according to him, the reason does not make sense because his members have had good performance while working there for decades.

He suspects that this step was planned from the beginning by the company.

“We acknowledge that and we often hear from managers that my members have good performance. But in reality, they were suspended for efficiency reasons. That is very unreasonable,” he said.

The suspended workers could not inquire further about the management’s decision. Because they have not been allowed to enter the work area since being suspended.

This report has previously been consulted by the workers with the Labour Desk at Metro Jaya Police. They were then informed that the case would subsequently be handled by the Specific Criminal Acts Subdirectorate (Tipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Directorate.
