Bekasi-Kota electric
Bekasi-Kota electric
train always late
From Warta Kota
The services of state-owned railway company PT KAI,
particularly those for ordinary people, still await improvement.
Take, for example, the departure time of the Bekasi-Kota economy-
class electric train. It's late almost every day.
This train is sometimes over 30 minutes late, as on Feb. 26,
2002. The train was scheduled to depart at 3:42 p.m. but it left
at 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the fast electric train left the station
as scheduled.
Does the fast train run on schedule because the fare is higher
than that for the economy-class train? The fare for the former
ranges from Rp 4,000 to Rp 6,000, while for the latter it is only
Rp 600. If that is the case, it is truly regrettable, as ordinary
people, who can afford only the economy-class train, also expect
a decent service from PT KAI.
