BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — The jogging track at Alun-alun M Hasibuan in Margajaya Village, South Bekasi District, West Java, is suspected of being used as a place for learning to drive cars. A video uploaded to the Instagram account @bekasi.terkini has sparked various comments from netizens. In the video, a car is seen on the path typically used by the public for exercise, casual walks, and family activities. Many have expressed concern over the weak surveillance in the public space.

Responding to the viral video, Robbie Arfiansyah Putra, Head of the Public Order and Public Safety (Tibumtranmas) Unit of Bekasi City’s Satpol PP, said his office only learned of the incident after the video went viral on social media. ‘As far as I know, no one reported the incident to the officers on site. We also found out from social media this morning,’ Robi told Kompas.com via message on Monday, 25 May 2026. ‘Of course it’s not allowed. That’s a jogging track or public exercise facility. It’s basic knowledge for the public about its purpose,’ he added. He confirmed that officers would take immediate action if similar incidents are found. ‘Yes, action will be taken on the spot. We also hope the public will report violations immediately,’ Robi said. ‘Satpol PP will conduct surveillance at the alun-alun area,’ he added.

Meanwhile, as of this report, the identity of the driver and the reason for the car entering the jogging track area remain unknown. The viral video continues to attract responses from netizens, with many social media users stating that vehicles in the jogging track area could endanger the safety of visitors, especially children and residents exercising in the alun-alun.
