Bekasi Couple Scammed by Wedding Planner: Rp85 Million Lost, Venue Not Paid in Full
A couple, Aldi, 32, and Feny, 32, recounted the timeline of alleged fraud by wedding organiser and catering service Marwah Catering Service.
Feny said she first discovered Marwah Catering Service on Instagram. “After that, I asked for the price list. There were several packages. I made a deposit first. Then I tested the food and visited Marwah’s event in person,” she said at East Jakarta Police Headquarters on Sunday (24 May 2026).
She also observed facilities such as a small hut, makeup artist (MUA), MC, decorations, and a wedding altar model.
“After returning, Marwah’s admin contacted me for further details. Then there were fitting sessions at JGC, their office. I had two fittings. After that, I made incremental payments until full settlement,” Feny added.
Feny confirmed she had fully paid the wedding organiser package in early April, totalling Rp85 million.
She also attended a virtual technical meeting with the WO team. However, the meeting lasted only about 10 minutes despite many unanswered questions.
“I kept asking about the directions and where I should enter. Every time I asked, I was told ‘we’ll contact you the day before’. Normally, the technical meeting involves visiting the venue, inspecting it, and getting directions. That’s when I became suspicious,” she said.
However, the wedding organiser failed to fulfil their obligations. Feny did not receive the promised wedding reception package, including the venue, decorations, or catering.
