Bekasi Councillor Charged with Assault Resulting in Injury
Public prosecutors stated that Bekasi Regency DPRD member Nyumarno, together with two other individuals, jointly committed violence that caused the victim to sustain injuries.
This was conveyed by the prosecutor when reading the indictment during a hearing held at the Cikarang District Court on Wednesday (5/8).
“The defendants are charged that, on 30 October 2025, at a restaurant, they committed violence together, resulting in injuries to the victim,” said the prosecutor.
Following the reading of the indictment, the panel of judges decided to adjourn the trial and scheduled a further hearing for the following week.
“The next hearing is scheduled for one week from now, to be continued on 12 August 2026, and the session is closed,” said Presiding Judge Andri Falahandika Ansyahrul.
Meanwhile, the victim’s legal counsel, Dani Bahdani, expressed appreciation for the Bekasi Regency Prosecutor’s Office’s move to finally bring the case to court after legal proceedings lasting more than nine months.
Dani also urged all parties, particularly officials within the Bekasi Regency Government, to respect the ongoing legal process and refrain from intervening in the proceedings.
“Secondly, we also appeal to the relevant parties, especially officials in Bekasi Regency, to respect the legal process and not intervene in this case,” he said.
Another lawyer, Michael, said his team also requested the Directorate General of Corrections to supervise the alleged use of a mobile phone by defendant Nyumarno while in detention at Cipayung Detention Centre.
“Furthermore, we as the legal team for Pendi as the victim also urge the Directorate General of Corrections to conduct supervision regarding the use of a mobile phone by defendant NY at Cipayung Detention Centre,” he said.
Michael further expressed hope that all parties would respect the judicial process until the panel of judges delivers a legally binding verdict.
“We ask the relevant parties to respect and honour the legal process currently underway at the Cikarang District Court,” he said.
Previously, a man named Fendy (41) reported an alleged assault believed to involve a Bekasi Regency DPRD member with the initial N. Following an investigation, police named N, a Bekasi Regency DPRD member, and two other individuals as suspects.
Investigators from Unit V of the Mobile Investigation Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police Criminal Investigation Division then handed over the three suspects along with evidence to the Public Prosecutor of the Bekasi Regency Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (29/7) after the case file was declared complete, or P-21.
“The three suspects handed over have the initials NY, E, and B. One of the three suspects is known to be an active DPRD member,” said Bekasi Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Aliyani in a statement on Thursday (30/7).
