Bekasi Council Member Named Suspect in Assault Case

A member of the Bekasi Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), identified by the initials NY, has been named a suspect in an alleged assault. NY and two other suspects, ED and B, have now been detained and their case transferred to the prosecutor’s office.

“We have received the transfer of responsibility for the suspects and evidence in the criminal case of assault on behalf of suspects NY, ED, and B,” said the Head of the Intelligence Section at the Bekasi District Prosecutor’s Office, Fajar Gigih Wibowo, in a statement on Thursday.

The three are currently being held at the Cikarang Penitentiary. The Bekasi Metro Police carried out the second phase of the process, handing over the suspects and evidence to the Bekasi District Prosecutor’s Office.

“The detention is based on the fulfilment of at least two pieces of evidence that the three suspects allegedly committed the criminal acts charged by investigators, and has gone through a number of considerations in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations,” he explained.

The Head of Public Relations for the Bekasi Metro Police, AKP Aliyani, added that the handover of evidence and suspects took place on Wednesday night. The transfer was conducted after the case file was declared complete, or P21.

“The three suspects handed over have the initials NY, E, and B. One of the suspects is known to be an active member of the DPRD,” said Aliyani.

The three are being processed for alleged criminal acts of abuse and/or assault as referred to in Article 466 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 262 of the Criminal Code. The incident was reported to have occurred on 30 October 2025 at a restaurant in South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. All suspects and evidence have been received by the Public Prosecutor for further proceedings.

“The Indonesian National Police is committed to upholding the law professionally, transparently, accountably, and fairly without discrimination, and ensuring that every legal process is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the legislation,” he stated.

A representative of the victim’s family, Nancy Angela Hendrick, expressed gratitude for the detention. Nancy said the family will continue to monitor the case.

“This case has been going on for nine months. The detention was only carried out today. We will continue to monitor this case until the trial process is complete,” said Nancy.
