The Bekasi City Metro Police have uncovered 102 cases of narcotics and dangerous drugs circulation within the last two months. A total of 121 suspects have been arrested.

“This is the result of disclosures by the Bekasi City Metro Police together with the sector police ranks during the period of May to June 2026. We will continue to take consistent law enforcement measures against perpetrators of narcotics and illegal hard drug distribution,” said Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

Kusumo explained that of the 102 cases uncovered, 78 cases were narcotics offences. Meanwhile, the other 24 cases were related to the distribution of hard drugs or dangerous drugs without a licence.

From the operation, police secured 121 suspects, consisting of 119 men and 2 women. Evidence seized included 156.29 grams of cannabis, 2,329 grams of methamphetamine, 5 grams of ecstasy, 503.26 grams of synthetic tobacco, and 52,740 hard and dangerous drug pills.

“We have no compromise for the distribution of hard drugs and dangerous drugs. The Bekasi City Metro Police will consistently continue eradication efforts. If the public knows of any shop or location selling hard drugs without a licence, please report it to us immediately. We will take firm action,” he stressed.

The suspects are charged with several articles, including Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health, specifically Article 435, Article 436, and Article 138, as well as Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, namely Article 111, Article 112, and Article 114.

Kusumo asserted that his party will not give any room to perpetrators of illegal hard drug distribution who are increasingly troubling the community. Based on police mapping results, a number of areas that remain a concern regarding illegal hard drug distribution include Rawalumbu, Bantar Gebang, Jatiasih, Jatisampurna, and South Bekasi.

Additionally, there has been a change in the perpetrators’ modus operandi. If previously transactions were conducted openly, now dealers are increasingly using cash on delivery (COD) and dead drop methods, which involve placing goods at a specific location to be picked up by the buyer without a direct meeting.

“The mode is no longer blatant. They use the COD and dead drop system. Goods are placed in a location, then picked up by another party. The perpetrators we arrested are mostly new players connected to certain supplier networks,” he explained.

The Bekasi City Metro Police invite all parties to play an active role in providing information regarding the circulation of narcotics and illegal hard drugs. Public support is considered an important factor in efforts to create a safe Bekasi City that is free from drug abuse and dangerous drugs.

“The war against narcotics and illegal hard drugs requires collaboration from all parties. Even the smallest piece of information from the public will greatly assist us in taking enforcement action,” he said.
