Bekasi City Government to Cover Medical Costs for 14 Victims of Cimuning Fire

The Bekasi City Government has assured that it will cover all medical treatment and care costs for the 14 victims of the fire at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) in Cimuning, Mustika Jaya District, Bekasi, comprehensively. Deputy Mayor Abdul Harris stated that the number of burn victims from the Bekasi fire reached around 14 people, including local residents and passersby at the time of the incident. “There are approximately 14 victims. This includes those whose homes caught fire or people who were passing by on the road and became victims,” Harris explained during his visit to the site on Thursday (2/4). He also ensured that all victims of the Bekasi fire would receive comprehensive medical treatment. “We ensure that all victims receive comprehensive medical handling. This policy is taken as a form of the state’s presence and responsibility for the misfortune that befell the community,” Harris continued. The Deputy Mayor confirmed that the local government would fully bear all treatment and care costs for the victims, whether through BPJS Health or other financing schemes. He assessed that the Bekasi fire incident had a fairly wide impact, including on nearby residential areas. “The impact around here naturally affected several residents’ homes and there are approximately 14 victims,” he said. Although there were no fatalities, the incident caused dozens of residents to suffer serious burns, even up to 90%. “The victims have been evacuated to our Type A Hospital. Both to RSUD Chasbullah and referred to RS Cipto Mangunkusumo to receive proper treatment,” he said. The Deputy Mayor added that the Bekasi City Government would ensure all victims receive the best services until the recovery process is complete. “Because this is an unforeseeable disaster. Insya Allah, all victims will be the responsibility of the Bekasi City Government,” he stated. The fire incident is suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak during the filling process, igniting a fire and causing damage to the surrounding area. Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Fire and Rescue Department (Disdamkarmat) of Bekasi City, Heryanto, revealed that based on preliminary investigation results, the Cimuning Bekasi fire was triggered by a gas leak during the filling process into the main tank. “As a result, an area of approximately 2,000 square metres was affected. In addition, several victims, including local residents, also became casualties. They are currently undergoing intensive treatment in hospitals due to the burns they suffered,” Heryanto said. The condition at the incident site has now been declared safe and under control after the fire was fully extinguished on Thursday at 03.45 WIB. The Bekasi City Government urges the public to remain vigilant while awaiting further investigation results to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional West Java (JBB) has assured that it will take full responsibility for the impacts of the explosion and fire at the SPBE Cimuning area, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City.
