JAKARTA – The Beijing Auto Show 2026 officially opened today, Friday (24/4/2026). This largest automotive exhibition in China has once again drawn attention due to its massive scale and the participation of numerous global brands.

While Indonesia is familiar with events such as GIIAS and IIMS, the Beijing Auto Show has a far greater scope.

The total exhibition area spans 380,000 square metres, utilising an additional venue at the Capital International Exhibition Center connected to the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi).

A total of 1,451 vehicles are on display, including 181 global and regional debuts, as well as 71 concept cars.

In addition, more than 200 press conferences and dozens of industry forums are being held throughout the exhibition.

Beyond the number of vehicles, the participation of automotive brands is the main attraction.

Several major manufacturers from China and around the world are joining the event.

Some of them are already well-known in Indonesia, such as BYD, Changan Automobile, GAC Aion, Jetour, Chery, and Geely.

In addition to established players, several new brands are also making an appearance and attracting attention.

Names like Shangjie, Aistaland, and Yijing are present as newcomers that did not exist in previous editions.

Notably, several of these brands are affiliated with Huawei.

Through the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) ecosystem, Huawei is increasingly aggressively entering the automotive industry by introducing operating system technologies and intelligent driving features.

In terms of trends, this year’s exhibition also demonstrates the dominance of large-sized electric SUVs.
