BEI Launches Sharia Mode on IDX Mobile to Expand Islamic Investment Access
BEI Introduces Sharia Mode on IDX Mobile to Make Sharia Investing More Accessible
Jakarta. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) or Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) is strengthening sharia investment literacy and inclusion through digital innovation with the launch of a new sharia mode on the IDX Mobile application, designed to make access to sharia capital market information easier, more practical, and more integrated for the public.
Officially introduced on March 9 at the IDX Main Hall in Jakarta, the new feature reflects BEI’s broader commitment to expanding transparent investment access that is aligned with sharia principles.
Opening the launch, Acting President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said Indonesia’s sharia capital market has continued to post solid growth in recent years, supported by a rising number of sharia-compliant listed shares and a growing base of investors choosing to invest in line with Islamic principles.
As of March 4, 2026, sharia stocks totaled 672, accounting for around 70% of all shares listed on the exchange, Jeffrey said. Meanwhile, the market capitalization of sharia stocks included in the Indonesia Sharia Stock Index represented around 56% of the exchange’s total market capitalization.
Investor participation has also climbed sharply. Based on data compiled from exchange members providing the Sharia Online Trading System, the number of sharia investors has risen significantly over the past five years — from around 85,000 in 2020 to more than 219,000 at the beginning of 2026.
For BEI, this momentum highlights the growing appetite among Indonesians for investments that are not only financially attractive but also aligned with their values.
Indonesia’s global standing in Islamic finance has also continued to strengthen. In 2025, Indonesia’s capital market received the Global Islamic Finance Awards Championship Award for Islamic Capital Market, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading sharia capital markets.
To help meet this growing demand, BEI has embedded a range of dedicated features into the sharia mode on IDX Mobile. These include Sharia Equity Market, Sukuk Market, Sharia Virtual Trading, Sharia Education Portal, and Fatwa & Regulation.
Through the Sharia Equity Market and Sukuk Market features, users can access information on sharia-compliant shares and sukuk listed on the exchange. The Sharia Virtual Trading feature allows users to practice using real-time data and simulate investment transactions before entering the market with actual funds.
To support investor education, the app also offers a Sharia Education Portal containing educational materials related to the sharia capital market. Meanwhile, the Fatwa & Regulation feature gives users easier access to regulations and fatwas related to sharia investing.
Jeffrey said digitalization is not merely about technology, but about broadening access, improving transparency, and building greater public trust in the capital market.
“Digitalization is not just about technology, but about how we create wider access, more transparent information, and stronger trust for the public,” he said.
With IDX Mobile now used by more than 510,000 users, BEI expects the new sharia mode to help accelerate both literacy and participation in sharia investing across Indonesia.
The launch was also accompanied by a talk show titled “Empowering Sharia Investment Journey with IDX Mobile Sharia,” featuring financial educator Khairani Pane and National Sharia Council–Indonesian Ulema Council board member Azharuddin Lathif.
The speakers highlighted the importance of credible information and guidance that is aligned with Sharia principles so that investors can make better-informed decisions with confidence.
Through this latest innovation, BEI aims to make sharia investment products in the capital market easier to understand and access, while further strengthening Indonesia’s position as one of the world’s fast-growing hubs for sharia capital market development.
