BEI Encourages Creative Industry to Go Public
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) is encouraging creative industry companies to list on the stock market through initial public offerings (IPOs). This move aims to strengthen sector diversification within the capital market.
Interim CEO Jeffrey Hendrik confirmed that creative industry companies are in the pipeline for stock listings.
However, he did not disclose further details or the identities of these companies.
‘Companies from the creative sector appear to be in the pipeline, but please consult Mr Nyoman (BEI’s Company Valuation Director I Gede Nyoman Yetna) for details,’ Jeffrey said at BEI’s Jakarta office on Monday, 25 May 2026.
However, all companies must still undergo verification according to their industry classification.
‘Of course, all submissions will be processed as previously stated; if there are creative industry companies, they will be re-verified for their sector,’ he added.
The presence of creative industry companies in the stock market will positively impact the exchange’s industrial structure.
Currently, the domestic capital market is dominated by conventional sectors such as banking, commodities, and infrastructure.
The more diverse the sectors listed on the stock market, the better for its development, as it offers investors a wider range of investment options.
‘The inclusion of the creative economy as part of listed companies will diversify our stock market’s industrial portfolio. According to diversification theory, this will benefit our market by adding sectors with strong growth potential,’ he added.
To support this initiative, BEI has begun engaging with the Ministry of Creative Economy to enhance understanding of the creative industry’s business characteristics.
Jeffrey revealed he has held direct discussions with the Minister of Creative Economy regarding potential government-BEI collaboration.
‘I spoke with Minister Ekraf to explore collaboration and information exchange, so that we at the exchange can better assess prospects and understand the business structure of the creative industry,’ he added.
