BEI Chief Confident IHSG Has a Bright Outlook Following Prabowo's Speech

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Acting President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), Jeffrey Hendrik, responded to the speech of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in the DPR this morning, Wednesday (20 May 2026). After hearing the speech, he expressed optimism about Indonesia’s economic prospects. ‘Oh we are optimistic, optimistic about our economic prospects,’ Jeffrey said when asked at the BEI Building, Wednesday (20 May 2026). This optimism also applies to the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) prospects. Jeffrey said higher economic growth would facilitate doing business and investment. ‘Yes, with higher economic growth, with easier doing business and investment, of course we are optimistic,’ he added. Regarding today’s IHSG correction, Jeffrey briefly replied that it is market movement. ‘That is technical,’ he said. It was recorded that IHSG turned red again after earlier trading green. Like a roller coaster, IHSG fell 0.6% to 6,332.18 at the close of the morning session today, Wednesday (20 May 2026). A total of 521 stocks declined, only 165 advanced, and 128 did not move. Stock trading volume reached 27.55 billion shares, with a value of Rp 13.67 trillion and 1.6 million trades.
