BEI Acting President Director confident IHSG outlook positive in response to President's speech
Jakarta — Acting President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), Jeffrey Hendrik, expressed optimism about the national economy and the Indonesian capital market. He made the remarks in response to President Prabowo Subianto’s address at the DPR plenary session on Wednesday, 20 May. ‘We are optimistic, optimistic about our economy,’ Hendrik said in an interview at the BEI Building in Jakarta. He also stated that the stock market would be propelled by higher economic growth and a more conducive climate for business and investment. ‘Yes, with higher economic growth, with ease of doing business and investment, we are optimistic,’ he said. He explained that the fall in the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) during today’s trading was purely technical. ‘That is technical,’ he added. For reference, the closing figures for the morning session at BEI showed the IHSG down 38.50 points or 0.60% to 6,332.18. Meanwhile, the LQ45 index rose 0.23 points or 0.04% to 635.05. According to the macroeconomic framework and main fiscal policy directions (KEM PPKF) for 2027, President Prabowo stated that the government projects Indonesia’s economic growth to reach between 5.8% and 6.5% in 2027 through suitable economic strategies and prudent and sustainable fiscal policy. Furthermore, the rupiah against the US dollar is projected to move within Rp16,800 to Rp17,500 per dollar in 2027. President Prabowo became the first Indonesian president to deliver the introduction to the RAPBN, which includes the macroeconomic framework and main fiscal policy directions, before members of the DPR.
