Behind the cleanliness enjoyed by passengers every day at LRT Jabodebek stations and trains lies a comprehensive cleaning management system that operates before services begin, during journeys, and after all trains have returned to the depot. To uphold these standards, LRT Jabodebek has deployed 524 cleaning staff across its service lines. They work in shifts to ensure that station areas, train carriages, and other supporting facilities are maintained daily. The cleaning personnel are divided into three main groups: 60 On Trip Cleaning officers who maintain cleanliness during journeys, 48 interior train washing officers at the LRT Jabodebek depot who ensure every train set is ready for operation and in a clean condition, and 416 cleaning staff stationed across all stations to care for public areas, including halls, platforms, waiting rooms, toilets, lifts, escalators, and other supporting facilities, keeping them clean, tidy, and comfortable for all users. Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika, stated that LRT Jabodebek continuously strives to manage cleanliness thoroughly, as it is one of the service aspects directly felt by the public. ‘Cleanliness on the LRT Jabodebek is not only carried out before or after operations. While the train is serving passengers, On Trip Cleaning officers continuously monitor and maintain interior cleanliness so that the journey remains comfortable and well-kept,’ he said. The strengthening of cleaning services aligns with the increasing public trust in using the LRT Jabodebek. During the January to May 2026 period, LRT Jabodebek served 13,211,812 users, an increase of approximately 23 percent compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 10,727,798 users. This increase is also reflected in the average daily ridership on weekdays, which rose from around 98,000 users in the January–May 2025 period to approximately 120,000 users in the same period of 2026. The growing volume of public travel has prompted LRT Jabodebek to continue maintaining service quality, including ensuring that station and train cleanliness is preserved amidst increased user activity. In addition to routine cleaning, officers also sanitise facilities, monitor high-activity areas, and respond quickly to situations requiring special attention. The placement of officers at each station is also tailored to the characteristics and volume of users so that facility cleanliness and service can be maintained throughout operational hours. ‘Cleanliness is not just about maintaining the appearance of facilities, but is part of the effort to provide a comfortable travel experience for the public. Through daily cleanliness management, KAI aims to ensure that every LRT Jabodebek user receives quality service and grows more confident in choosing public transport as their daily mobility option,’ Radhitya concluded.
