Richard Lee has been remanded in custody after being arrested by the Metro Jaya Regional Police. He was arrested after failing to appear for questioning and instead carried out a live TikTok broadcast. Lee has been named a suspect in a case of alleged consumer protection violations related to cosmetics products and services. He was scheduled to be questioned as a suspect on Tuesday (3 March) but did not attend. Additionally, Richard Lee missed mandatory reporting on Monday (23 February) and Thursday (5 March). So what was the reason for Richard Lee’s TikTok Live instead of appearing for police questioning? According to the statement provided by DRL that the person in question conducted a TikTok Live on his own account for the purpose of promoting products of CV Athena as part of his work, said the Head of Public Relations at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Saturday, 7 March 2026. Richard Lee was eventually detained by police on Friday (6 March). The police said his failure to appear did not reflect a law-abiding citizen. ‘In essence, he does not reflect a citizen who obeys and respects the law,’ said Budi Hermanto. Budi said that before the detention, the suspect’s personal belongings not related to the investigation were deposited with his legal counsel. The checks conducted by Biddokes Metro Jaya included blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and body temperature, all with normal results and allowing him to carry out ordinary activities.
