The alleged mistreatment of a female visitor at Samosir Prison has once again brought the conduct of prison officers under scrutiny, following a previous incident involving the death of an inmate.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 25th, at approximately 2:00 PM. A woman, identified as NN (28), arrived to visit her husband, who is serving a prison sentence and is scheduled for release on February 27th, 2026.

However, NN claims that she was met with difficulties by one of the prison officers, Boby Sembiring, when she requested permission to visit. This led to an argument between the woman and the officer.

According to the woman’s family, the officer made inappropriate remarks during the argument, allegedly saying, “I have the right to decide whether or not to allow visits; I am an important person.”

These remarks caused tension in the prison area, and the situation lasted for several hours. At around 4:55 PM, the situation began to de-escalate after Boby Sembiring apologized and clarified his remarks to the woman and her family. “I apologize for my mistake and did not intend to make it difficult for the family to visit,” he said.

After the apology, the prison authorities allowed NN to visit her husband. Both parties agreed to resolve the issue peacefully and dispersed in a calm manner.

Although the incident ended peacefully, it has once again raised public concerns about the service and ethics of officers in correctional institutions, especially given its connection to the previous case involving the death of an inmate a few months ago.
