A resident named Ati, 53, says she saw a man pass by in front of her house before a baby was found in a nasi uduk cart on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Ati noted that the man wore a brown jacket and carried a black bag, and that he reappeared shortly thereafter without the bag, walking while using his mobile phone in a manner suggesting a courier confirming a delivery. “Not long after, about two minutes, he came back and no longer carried that luggage,” she said. Ati only realised the sequence the next morning and told Marlinah, 49, another resident who later found the baby. She added that in the afternoon she did not hear the typical courier call for a package. Previously reported, a baby wrapped in blue clothing and a blanket was found in a black shopping bag on top of a nasi uduk cart at the end of a narrow alley on Jalan Pejaten Raya. The witness located the bag and found the infant and accompanying items inside. Dinda called her mother to secure the baby inside the home before alerting authorities. “Then the witness checks inside the shopping bag and sees a baby girl lying on her side, wearing a blue teddy bear outfit and covered with a baby blanket,” said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, in a statement on Tuesday. Along with the baby, a boxed infant milk, wet wipes, blue gloves, and a note were found. The note stated that the baby had been named with the initials AR and was born on Monday, 2 March 2026. “Assalamualaikum, Bapak/Ibu who found my little sister, I am Zidan asking for help to care for my sister, because my mother died during childbirth, please treat her as your own child, because I will not be able to find or visit her again, I do not want her future to be like mine, thank you,” the note reads. The baby was subsequently taken to Pasar Minggu Health Centre for medical care before being handed over to the South Jakarta Social Service Office.
