Before Kaesang, PSI Mesuji Chairman Reveals Target of One Seat Per Electoral District

Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep attended the Regional Coordination Meeting of the PSI Mesuji Regional Executive Board on Friday (26/6). Kaesang witnessed the inauguration of the Regional Executive Board, Branch Executive Board, and Village Executive Board officials across Mesuji. Kaesang was accompanied by PSI Central Executive Board Deputy General Chairman Endang Tirtana, PSI Treasurer Fenty Noverita, and other central board officials. Chairman of the PSI Mesuji Regional Executive Board, Veri Fardinalsyah, stated that 86 per cent of the 15 villages in Mesuji Regency are already registered in the PSI Information and Administration System application. He is targeting one legislative seat in every electoral district. ‘Friends in PSI Mesuji, we will secure at least one council seat per electoral district. God willing, if you all give your blessing, we will also secure the executive position,’ Veri said before Kaesang, as quoted from a written statement. Meanwhile, Secretary of the PSI Lampung Provincial Executive Board, Beni Batara, reminded attendees that the coordination meeting is not merely a party or organisational agenda, but a momentum to consolidate strength in Lampung. ‘Because the public’s enthusiasm for PSI is very strong, finding village-level officials is not difficult,’ he said. Beni urged all cadres to actively participate in growing the party, especially in Lampung. He wants cadres to make PSI a shared home for struggle. ‘Let us build PSI in Lampung as a shared home, an open home for young people, women, farmers, fishermen, MSME actors, workers, and all elements of society,’ he stated. The PSI event in Mesuji, Lampung, was also attended by Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. This time he turned out for the PSI, which is led by his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. Lampung is the first region he visited with volunteers and PSI members. Jokowi admitted his presence in the province known as the ‘Gateway to Sumatra’ was for the PSI. ‘Why did I come to Lampung Province? Why did I come to Mesuji Regency?
