Before IRI Delegation, Cak Udin Stresses PKB's Political Regeneration Is Not Just a Slogan

The Central Executive Board of the National Awakening Party (PKB) welcomed a delegation from the International Republican Institute (IRI) at the party’s headquarters in Jakarta on Monday, 3 August 2026. The visit was part of the Regional Political Party Exchange Programme in Indonesia. The discussion, led directly by PKB Secretary-General M. Hasanuddin Wahid, known as Cak Udin, addressed several crucial issues in the Asian region, including the democratic climate, leadership regeneration, and strategies to boost the role of the younger generation on the political stage. Cak Udin viewed this cross-country forum as an important momentum for sharing insights, enabling political institutions to adaptively respond to the dynamics of the times. ‘We welcome the International Republican Institute’s visit to the DPP PKB. Meetings like this are very important for strengthening friendships, exchanging experiences, and building closer collaboration between political institutions in the region,’ Cak Udin stated. Regarding political regeneration, Cak Udin asserted that PKB’s steps are not merely a slogan. He underscored that his party consistently paves the way for young people not just to be sympathisers, but to act as drivers of the organisation in central positions. ‘PKB believes that the future of Indonesian politics is largely determined by the quality of its young generation. Therefore, we do not just provide space for participation, but also place them in strategic positions. Currently, many young people are part of the DPP PKB Daily Board and are directly involved in the party’s decision-making process,’ he stressed. Through these inclusive measures, PKB aims to create a modern party ecosystem to answer future challenges. Furthermore, Cak Udin expressed his hope that the relationship with IRI would not stop at the meeting table, but would continue into the realisation of sustainable programmes. ‘We hope this meeting will be the beginning of a more productive cooperation. Going forward, we are open to various follow-up programmes such as knowledge exchange, capacity building for young cadres, and discussion forums that can strengthen democracy and political leadership in the region,’ he concluded.
